SHADE ON DEMAND can provide both, but our primary focus is on hard-wired solutions, due to their inherent reliability and convenience (no batteries to change).

In September 2007, Hunter Douglas introduced Platinum^TM Technology, a next-generation window coverings automation technology, providing a combination of infrared (IR) line-of-sight and radio-frequency (RF) remote control of PowerRise®, PowerTilt®, PowerGlide^®, and select hard-wired motorized systems.

Battery-powered systems are controlled by the Platinum^TM remote, featuring both IR and RF control. With RF, groups of shades can be controlled on a single channel with a simple button push on the handheld remote. These shades can also be connected to DC power supplies to eliminate the batteries.

Hard-wired products can be controlled by the Platinum^TM wall switch, which also can be used in conjunction with a Platinum remote control. The switch has a receiver capable of receiving both IR and RF commands. Hard-wired products can also be controlled by programmable motor controls manufactured by Electronic Solutions Inc., a Hunter Douglas company. ESI motor controls can be integrated into a network and interfaced with a home automation or building management system.
